La Casa Del Rey

The three tier fountain in front of this elegant residence sets the stage for a "Euro Mediterranean" feel that is also characterized by the cornice brackets, low-pitched tiled roof, iron railings and balusters, coursing around the entrance, use of hard-coat gold stucco and color scheme.  Arched entrances, decorative chimney caps and small windows illustrate Spanish Colonial style, as does the second-floor balcony with wrought iron railings.

La Casa Del Rey

An Italian fresco ceiling and Spanish chandeliers grace the spacious entry gallery, and Mediterranean influence is carried through in the marble tile floors and iron work throughout.  The home features heavy chandeliers, a large stone fireplace off the kitchen, dark wood flooring and faux painting throughout.  Extensive outdoor porches with chandeliers make it easy to envision this home on the Mediterranean coast.

While this type of home is more commonly reproduced in Florida, a few much smaller Spanish-style adaptations are found around Nashville, especially in the "Little Hollywood" area of east Nashville adjacent to Lockeland Springs, where about a dozen small stucco houses are clustered, some featuring ironwork, arched doorways and tiled roofs. None match the grand style of this home, aptly named "The House of the King" but distressed furnishings and finishes and large unfussy windows can help replicate its takeaway mood of breezy, spacious luxury.
